Let’s get real for a moment – there’ll come a time when your employee will resign from their position. Your employee is completely entitled to leave their job – and, there are plenty of reasons for resignation. As an employer, your job is to make the employee feels valued and appreciated. Some of these tell-tale signs may help you take steps in the right direction and retain the employee. Below are 5 common reasons for employee resignations.
Feeling underappreciated
Employees need a little pat on the back from time to time. They need to be reminded that their valuable contributions to the company are appreciated and will be rewarded in due time. If you ignore your employee for long, they will seek that appreciation at some other organization.
Limited growth at the company
Employees often feel frustrated with the inability to climb the ladder within the firm. This is another and perhaps, the most common reason for resignation. Most people join an organization with the hopes of achieving a respectable position. If they feel stagnant for a while, they will turn to some other place where their future looks brighter.
Lack of challenges
Being comfortable in your job is a good thing. But if the employee has been doing the same thing day in and day out, you’ll need to shake things up a little. Everyone wants to be challenged, inspired and fulfilled by their work.
Being treated poorly
Employees often find themselves in a position where their boss ends up taking credit for all of their hard work. On top of the discontent and dismay that it brings, employees also dread being stagnant in the same position as their efforts will never be rewarded.
Of course, there are other reasons too. Sometimes employees are terribly treated by their boss or peers. And the only way to get out of the situation is by resigning from the job.
Pursue further education
Leaving the job to pursue higher education is one of the most common reasons for resignation. Or, your employee has discovered new interests and wants to explore it further.
